Which is better for you? A “Fixed Height” Desk or an “Adjustable Desk”?
An always standing desk is kind of a nuance in my opinion. There are a simply times where it would be nice to be sitting down. As an example, if you’re eating at your desk, or if your legs simply get tired. I also do some video recording for YouTube and video marketing and honestly, the set just looks better when I’m sitting down. That said, I prefer an adjustable desk that easy to change throughout the day.
Many of the popular electronic desk have memory settings that allow you to adjust the height to one of your presets with the push of a button. For example, the desk I personally use has 4 memory settings which is fantastic. I have one set to a normal standing height, the second set to a sitting height. The third is set to the proper height when I using my treadmill at my desk, and the forth currently isn’t being utilized. There are several things to consider when purchasing an adjustable desk.
Here are my top suggestions and considerations when shopping:
- Do you prefer electric of manual adjustments?
- If electric, does it need to have a memory set?
- How large should the desk be (length X width)? This is especially critical if you plan on having multiple monitors as you don’t want your monitor hanging over the edge of the desk.
- Is the base expandable? Meaning can you take off the existing top and put on a large one at a later date?
- What color and materials do you prefer?
